Board of Ethics

The Town of Pendleton’s Code of Ethics is founded on the principle that public officers and employees serve the community and should always act in the public’s best interest rather than for personal gain. To support this commitment, the Town has established clear standards of ethical conduct that promote integrity, accountability, and public trust in local government. These standards help guide officials and employees in carrying out their responsibilities fairly and responsibly.

The Town’s Board of Ethics is a three-member advisory board appointed by the Pendleton Town Board. To ensure a balanced perspective, most members are not Town officers or employees, while at least one member serves in a municipal role. Board members provide confidential advisory opinions to Town officers and employees who request guidance on ethical questions related to the Code of Ethics and applicable state law. The Board has access to legal counsel and may recommend updates to the Code of Ethics when requested by the Town Board, helping to keep the Town’s ethical standards current and effective.
